Ringing-In The Unchanges.
In all the time that I have been using the internet to read blogs I have never come across a post on campanology before…
This piece called; ‘Bell Ringing: Campanology is Fun’ actually makes interesting reading. It is easy to take the mickey out of people with this sort of hobby (or to ‘pull on their chain’ if you’ll forgive the pun), but it is important that British traditions are kept alive. If there weren’t still people who went out bell-ringing then there would be an awful lot of very quiet weddings.
Although as far as ‘British traditions being kept alive’ goes there are always exceptions. We were right to stop stuffing kids up chimneys to clean them out; and Morris Dancers are another rather dubious subject…
